Training 5 & 6 - English for the Humanities and Social Sciences
The H2020 twinning project SfaxForward organized a hands-on training on "English for the Humanities and Social Sciences" during November and December 2021.
The training was held in two parts:
- "Getting published course syllabus" &,
- "Giving a speech course syllabus".
The first part — "Getting published" — was blended course designed specifically to address the English writing skills' requirements of scientists and researchers. The main objectives of Getting published’ were to fill any gaps in basic skills for scientific writing in English, understand, and master the governing principles, put them into practice (drafting concise and persuasive scientific texts) and promote writing as a scientific tool: writing helps develop reasoning.
The second part — "Giving a speech — was a blended course designed specifically to address the English public speaking skills' requirements of scientists and researchers. This blended learning course was based on the development of formal English communication skills and conviction abilities: effective and persuasive oral presentations in a formal scientific context.
